food 와 dish의 차이

 

 

dish 가 접시라는 뜻 외에 음식이란 뜻으로도 쓰인다.

그래서 영어로 차이점이 뭔지에 대해서 찾아봤다.

Food is a generic term which describes anything that you can eat.  

Food 는 우리가 먹는 음식 전부

 

Dish refers to something prepared to be eaten.

A "dish" may be served on tableware, or may be eaten out of hand; but breads are generally not called "dishes"

식탁용 식기에 담긴 음식, 하지만 빵은 dish 라고 부르지 않음

 

식탁에 놓이는 접시, 그릇의 차이점도 간단하게 알아보면 ... 

 

    

 
 

plate는 평평한 접시를 말하고, dish는 깊이가 깊지 않은 접시를 말하며 plate 도 포함한다.

bowl (사발)은 그림에서 보면 확연하게 깊이가 차이 난다.
