All 과 Every 차이
all 과 evey 의 차이에 대해 찾아봤다.
영문 사이트 뒤져보면 이렇게 나온다.
Every is used with singular countable nouns. (Every 는 셀수 있는 명사랑 같이 사용된다)
To give the same meaning, all is used with plural nouns. (같은 의미로 All 은 복수명사랑 같이 사용된다)
We can use all with uncountable nouns. (All은 셀수없는 명사랑 같이 사용된다)
All can be used with determiners. (한정사와 함께 사용될 수 있다)
Every cannot normally be used with them.
다시 한번 정리하자면....
All the students in the class passed the exam. (교실에 있는 학생 전부 시험에 통과했어)
Every student in the class passed the exam. (교실에 있는 학생 전부 시험에 통과했어)
* every 는 구성원 한명 한명에 초점을 맞춘 전부를 의미이고, 단수취급을 함
I've spent all the money you gave me. (나 돈 다 써버렸어. 네가 나한테 줬던)
* money 는 셀수 없는 명사. 돈1, 돈2, 돈3 이런 말은 없음. 셀수 있도록 동전이나 지폐의 단위를 써서 구분함
* the 는 말하는 사람도 알고 듣는 상대방도 알때 사용 (관사 게시물 참조)
I like all music. (음악은 뭐든 다 좋아하지)
Dennis's father who is 65 goes swimming every day. (데니스 아빠는 65세인데도 매일 수영하러 다니셔)
The bus leaves every hour. (버스는 한시간마다 출발해)
* every 는 어떤 일이 얼마나 자주 일어나는가를 말할 때 사용(Every is used to say how often something happens)
I swam all day. (난 하루종일 수영을 했어)
Dennis was very quiet. He didn't say a word all night. (데니스 너무 조용하더라. 밤새도록 한마디도 안하더라구)
* all the day, all the night 는 틀림
Did you read the whole book? (너 책 처음부터 끝까지 다 읽었어?)
* whole 뒤에는 단수형이 옴
He was carrying a suitcase in each hand. (그 남자는 양손에 가방 한개씩 나르고 있었어)
* in each hand 는 사람 손이 2개니까 '각각 손에' 라고 하기 보다는 '양손에' 라고 해석(번역)하면 됨
* 달랑 2개를 표현할 땐 each 를 씀(Every cannot be used for 2 things. For 2 things, each can be used)
