sure 와 confident 의 차이
Both 'confident' and 'sure' can describe the feeling when somebody firmly believes something. It states an opinion.
However, 'sure' can also be used to state that something is definitely true - not an opinion, but a fact.
confident 는 확신한다는 의견(opinion)에만 사용하는데 반해
sure 는 opinion 과 fact 모두에 사용
I'm confident you've made the right choice. (난 확신해. 네가 옳은 선택을 했다고)
I feel confident that our team will win. (우리 팀이 이길 것을 확신한다)
What makes you so confident? (왜 그렇게 확신하세요?)
He always looks so self-confident. (그는 언제나 자신감이 넘친다)
Be confident! (자신감을 가져!)
I'm confident that we can finish on time. (난 확신해. 우리가 제 시간에 끝마칠 거라고)
I'm sure that we can finish on time. (난 확신해. 우리가 제 시간에 끝마칠 거라고)
I'm not sure I've helped you. (잘 모르겠어요 / 제가 당신한테 도움이 됐는지)
I'm sure it was an inside job. (내부자 소행일거야)
You could never disappoint me. I'm sure you'll pass the next one. (넌 대단한 애야. 다음 시험엔 꼭 합격할거야)
Are you sure you have no money? (정말 너 돈 없어?)
Are you sure there is a meeting scheduled for today? (오늘 회의있는게 확실해?)
The sun is sure to come up tomorrow. (해가 내일 뜨는건 확실하지)
It is icy outside. The roads are sure to be slippery. (바깥 날씨가 엄청 추워. 길이 분명히 미끄러울 거야)
