meet 와 see 의 차이점에 대해 알아보겠습니다.
"Nice to meet you" is typically said shortly after being introduced or introducing yourself to another person.
"Nice
meeting you" is used at the end of a conversation, when it is the first
time you've been introduced to or introduced yourself to another
person.
미미가 마이클에게 10분후에 자기 집에서 보자고 합니다.
미미의 엄마가 하는 말 중에 어느 것이 맞을까요?
MiMi: Michael, meet me at my house in 10 mins.
<Michael arrives at MiMi's house and is greeted by her mom>
MiMi's mom : MiMi! Michael is here to see you.
MiMi's mom : MiMi! Michael is here to meet you.
You generally use 'meet' when arranging the time, date, and/or place to meet.
'Meet' does not mean to spend time with. Use 'see' instead.
If you say someone is here to meet you, it sounds like you don’t know them (you’ve never met them before).
meet 는 서로 모르는 사이에 처음 만나 인사를 나누는 경우, 구체적인 시간, 날짜, 장소를 나타내는 말이 올 때 사용합니다.
두번째, 세번째 만날 때 (즉, 이미 서로간에 알고 있을 때)는 see 를 사용합니다.
미국 영화보면 파티를 하는 장소에서 서로간에 마주칠 때가 있겠죠.
인사를 나누었는지 처음 본 것인지 헷갈릴 때 Have we met? (우리 구면인가요?) 또는 Did we met? (우리 전에 만났나요?)
라는 표현을 사용합니다.
친구를 소개시켜 주려고 하는 경우에는 Come here. Meet my friend Dennis.
남자친구 만날 거예요 라고 하면서 I’m going to meet my boyfriend. 라고 말한다면 맞을까요?
